March 2022 Spending, Savings, and Net Worth Update

Spending

CategoryAmountNotes
Eating out£61.17Went out to eat four times (gasp!), two of which I had discounts for (I know, must try harder next time!) Four excellent meals and enjoyed the company of the people I was with – no regrets.
Entertainment£135.87Two lottery tickets (no wins); Latin dance classes; drinks; bowling; pool; a bet on the football (£1 returned £6.59 – high stakes stuff); a Bic pen with four colours for my journal – this was a bargain from Home Bargains at 99p; two textbooks on consumer behaviour/psychology on eBay for £12.01 including delivery – this was a steal as they were on Amazon for about five or six times the price.
Groceries£133.60Budget of £40/week = £160 for the month.
Health£204.87CrossFit (2 x week membership) £40 and PureGym (unlimited) £19.99. A crown I had fell out, taking most of the tooth it was protecting with it. Subsequent trips to the dentist cost £3.88 for an X-ray (hurrah, NHS) and £140 for an implant assessment. Implants are not covered on the NHS (boo, NHS).
Housing£570.1Mortgage, gas and electric, broadband, window cleaning. No council tax this month due to previously overpaying.
Investment fees£78.72Fees for my Halifax share dealing account. I’ve got a few Tesco shares from years ago when I did stupid things like pick individual companies to invest in.
Mobile phone£6.95Lebara SIM only deal.
Presents£58.88Birthday presents for a family member, Mother’s Day, and a contribution to a colleague’s retirement.
Shopping£31.49Renewal of student card I qualify for through part-time study and a stonking deal on a battery charger and four rechargeable batteries (£5)
Technology79pGoogle One cloud storage.
Transport£144.73£1 for parking, the rest for petrol.
Total£1,427.17Slightly higher than usual expenses, mainly due to the dentist.

A huge increase this month! What happened? My Vanguard account leapt by just over £6600, again highlighting the volatility of the stock market.
